Fri, Jun 20, 2014, 11:16 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 20, Colombo: The Facebook social network has suspended the profiles of Sri Lanka's Buddhist extremist group Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) and its monk leader Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, local media reported.

A large number of individuals have reported to the Facebook administration that the two account holders are engaged in spreading racism and hatred.

Meanwhile, the website of the BBS, www.bodubalasena.org also showed an error message on establishing a database connection.

Despite hate speeches of BBS secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara before the violence in Dharga Town which were widely reported in websites and social networks, the government has not taken any action so far against the extremist organization.
