Mon, Jun 16, 2014, 11:03 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Opposition and United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe will deliver a special statement in the parliament tomorrow (17) on the situation in the Beruwala Aluthgama area where communal clashes erupted between Sinhala and Muslim people.

The party in a statement said the chairman of the party's leadership Council MP Karu Jayasuriya, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake will go to the area Monday to inspect the situation in the tension stricken area and report to the party.

UNP said the government completely failed to control the tense situation in the Aluthgama Beruwala area.

The party condemned the government for spreading dissension among communities to claim there is a conspiracy against the government in order to cover up its ineptness.
