Thu, Jun 12, 2014, 12:20 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka's elite police Special Task Force (STF) has seized a massive heroin haul during a raid in Biyagama, Kelaniya area, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

The Spokesman said the STF seized 85 kilograms of heroin during a special operation and arrested two suspects. It is the second biggest recovery of heroin in Sri Lanka in recent times.

A three-wheeler and a hybrid vehicle were also taken into custody, the spokesman said.

Police are conducting further investigations, he added.

Sri Lanka Custom officials in August last year raided a container brought from Pakistan and seized 130 kilograms of heroin hidden in cans of lubricants.
