* Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority confirms the debris found in western sea not aircraft parts
Sun, Jun 8, 2014, 11:14 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Civil Aviation Authority announced that the debris found recently by the fishermen at Moragalla in the western coast was not parts of an aircraft as suspected earlier.

The Director General of Civil Aviation Authority H.M.C. Nimalsiri said the debris was shown to an expert on the subject and he had verified that they were not parts of aircraft.

The Authority now suspects that the debris may be a part removed from a ship.

The fisherman engaged in fishing about one kilometer away from the shore off Moragolla area in Aluthgama last month found the rim of a wheel, believed to be of an aircraft, entangled in their nets.

Sri Lanka Air Force media spokesman Wing Commander Gihan Seneviratne said at the end of May that a special investigation was underway regarding the find.
