* Buddhist monk arrested for murder in Sri Lanka

June 05, Matara: Sri Lanka police have arrested a Buddhist monk today on suspicion of murdering a man yesterday, local media reported.

Akuressa Police had arrested the monk and another suspect on the murder of an individual who was the father of another young monk residing in the same temple as the arrested monk.

The suspects have allegedly beaten the victim to death after an argument, the police media unit said.

Two suspects are due to be produced before Matara Magistrate today.
