* Police arrest 13 illegal Sri Lankan migrants bound for Australia

June 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police had arrested a group of 13 suspected illegal migrants, waiting in a lodge in Moratuwa, to leave for Australia.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the group of 13 Tamil youth was arrested yesterday while they were waiting in a house in Lunawa, Moratuwa to take a sea journey to Australia.

It has been found that the suspects were residents of Nedunkerny, Mulliyaweli, Jaffna, Mullativu, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya and they have paid a human smuggler in Jaffna Rs. 10,000 each for their journey.

The Moratuwa Police on a tip-off received by the Moratuwa Mobile Police patrol have arrested the suspects, who were waiting in the lodge since May 26.

Moratuwa Police are continuing the investigations.
