* Sri Lanka raises import duty on milk powder

June 03, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has decided to increase the levy on imported milk powder to protect the local dairy industry as the global prices of milk powder had dropped.

The import duty on milk powder has been increased by Rs 25 per kilogram with effect from Monday (June 02), the Ministry of Finance and Planning said.

Accordingly the previous import duty of Rs 57 has been increased to Rs 82 per kilogram.
