* South Africa's Special Envoy Cyril Ramaphosa to visit Sri Lanka next week

July 05, Colombo: South Africa's Special Envoy to Sri Lanka, and Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC), Cyril Ramaphosa will pay a visit to Sri Lanka next week, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the South African government said.

Ramaphosa is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on Monday to hold talks with the government, the opposition and other civil society groups in an effort to work out a lasting solution to the ethnic issue.

Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L, Peiris will host the South African delegation headed by Ramaphosa on July 8 and 9.

The South African delegation is expected to discuss with the government leaders and political parties the possibility of instituting a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) to reach a solution to the Tamil issue.

Deputy President Ramaphosa will be on a working visit to France prior to arriving in Sri Lanka.
