July 03, Colombo: A Sri Lankan sailor who set himself ablaze in Bristol Street in capital Colombo is struggling for life in Colombo National Hospital, hospital sources said.

Director of Accident Department of the Colombo National Hospital Dr. Kapila Wickremanayake said that 85 percent of the body of the victim was burnt.

The victim is a 64 year old seaman who lived in Grandpass area, police say. He is identified as Nimal Jayarathna. The reason for self-immolation has not yet been revealed.
