* Sri Lanka's state medical doctors to launch island wide strike on the 30th
Mon, Jan 27, 2014, 11:23 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 27, Colombo: State medical doctors in Sri Lanka have decided to launch an island wide strike on the 30th of this month.

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) told the media that all doctors in government hospitals would conduct an island-wide strike on Thursday, January 30.

The GMOA said the strike is aimed at demanding the authorities to immediately implement the Medical Service Minutes.

The strike would commence at 8 am on January 30 and would continue until the doctors were provided with solutions to their demands.

The delay in implementing the Medical Service Minute has resulted in many doctors facing problems in transfers, promotions and increments, the Association says.
