Sat, Jan 25, 2014, 01:33 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 24, Toronto: The Liberal Party Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne had a friendly meeting with a former spokesman for a Tamil Tiger front organization, a Canadian newspaper report said.

Canada's National Post reported that the office of the Ontario Premier has confirmed the Premier's meeting with Nehru Gunaratnam, a former spokesman for the World Tamil Movement (WTM), a federally listed terrorist organization in Canada, while on a visit to a Toronto temple on January 14.

The Premier and Gunaratnam along with city councilor Michelle Berardinetti and Liberal MPP Lorenzo Berardinetti have attended the event at the Kanthasamy Hindu Temple to celebrate Thai Pongal.

Press secretary for the Premier has confirmed the meeting saying that Premier Wynne meets many Ontarians in her public events.

The WTM, which was formed in 1986, is labeled as a "front organization" for the Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Canada, according to the Canadian government website.
