* Sri Lankan President opens Sama Viharaya

Jan 24, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Friday declared open the newly constructed Sama Viharaya Complex (Peace Temple) at Havelock road in Colombo.

The new temple complex was constructed under a modern plan with the financial assistance provided by popular businessmen and philanthropist Shing Pee Tao, the Chairman of Overseas reality, developer of the Havelock City and the Founder and Chairman of Singapore-based Shing Kwan Group.

Chief Prelate of the Southern Province Venerable Pallaththara Sumana Jothi thera, Chancellor of Sri Jayewardenepura University Venerable Professor Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, and Senior Minister A.H. M. Fowzie participated in the event.
