Jan 23, Colombo: The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at its meeting Thursday has discussed the Draft F&CA Commercial Rights Working Group Position Paper.
The Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) Commercial Rights Working Group position paper drafted by the cricket boards of Australia, England and India will be presented to the ICC executive board on January 28 and 29 where it will be voted on by the other full member nations.
At today's meeting the SLC Executive Committee has decided to write to the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and inform them its unanimous view that the Position Paper needs to be deferred and re-considered on a future date.
The Executive Committee further decided to discuss with the General Membership of SLC too at a future date.
The Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) announcing its official response on the proposal today said the proposal is designed to vest control of the game in the three Boards of India, Australia and England and not in the best interests of the global game.
"We have real fears that it will only serve to strengthen the ‘big three’ countries whilst the rest are left to wither on the vine," the statement said.
The Federation called on the other seven ICC Board members to reject the proposal at next week's ICC Board meeting.
