* Sri Lankan Election Commissioner to meet the political party secretaries on January 24

Jan 22, Colombo: Election Commissioner of Sri Lanka Mahinda Deshapriya has summoned the secretaries of the political parties contesting for the Western and Southern Provincial Councils on January 24.

The Election Commissioner has decided to increase the participation of representatives of the parties at the counting centers. The Election Commissioner has scheduled to discuss the matter with the party secretaries at the meeting to be held in the afternoon of January 24.

Deshapriya will also discuss the propaganda campaigns and preparation of candidate lists for the polls.

The meeting will be held in the Election Secretariat and the representatives of the monitoring organizations are also to take part in the meeting.

The nominations for the two Provincial Councils will be accepted from January 30 to February 6.
