* UAE assures support to Sri Lanka, willing to increase investments

Jan 21, Dubai: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Tuesday held talks with the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai.

During the discussion, Sheikh Mohammed assuring President Rajapaksa of UAE's support to Sri Lanka has expressed his willingness to enhance bilateral relations and to increase UAE investments in Sri Lanka, President's media unit said in a release.

The Sheikh told the President that he understood very well Sri Lanka's situation and the realities on the ground and said there is now an environment conducive for investing in Sri Lanka since peace has returned after so many years.

President Rajapaksa has extended an invitation to Sheikh Mohammed to visit Sri Lanka and the Dubai ruler has accepted.

Before concluding the discussion, the Dubai ruler gifted the President with a book of poems, which the he had authored.

The Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Sajin de Vass Gunawardena participated in the discussion.
