* Sri Lankan President arrives in Abu Dhabi on one-day visit

Jan 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa who left this afternoon on a one-day visit to the United Arab Emirates arrived in Abu Dhabi a short while ago.

He was welcomed by the Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs Majed Ali Al Mansouri at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya and members of Sri Lankan community were also present to welcome the President.

In Abu Dhabi, President Rajapaksa will attend the Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony this evening and participate in several bilateral talks tomorrow morning.

According to the Prize website, the annual award "celebrates achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability." Among the finalists for this year's award include multinational companies such as General Electric (GE) and Walmart, among others.

On the visit, President Rajapaksa will also hold several bilateral meetings with officials in the country and meet with the Sri Lankan community living in the emirate.

Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris and Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs Sajin de Vass Gunawardena are a part of the delegation.
