Jan 12, Kandy: A Provincial Council Chief Minister of Sri Lanka today expressed his expectations to be the next Prime Minister of the island nation.

Chief Minister of the central Province, Sarath Ekanayake expressed his aspirations at a meeting held in the Chief Minister's official residence in Kandy.

Ekanayake, who holds the Chief Minister position for a third time, said he is one of the most senior activists of the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party and suitable for the job.

He further stated that he also a close confidante of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
