Jan 11, Colombo: The Leadership Council of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to direct all the electoral organizers of the party in the Western and Southern Provinces to contest the Provincial Council elections.
At its meeting Friday (January 10), the Leadership Council decided to complete appointing UNP electoral organizers in all districts except in the districts of the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
A large number of UNP electoral organizers have already applied for the candidature of the Western and Southern Provincial Councils.
However, some electoral organizers who are not the Members of Parliament have not applied for nomination, UNP sources say.
