Jan 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka will commence the Version 2.0 of e-Development Agenda, 'Smart Sri Lanka' this year, CEO of ICT Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka, Roshan Dewapura said.
Accordingly, a firm called Smart Sri Lanka Institute is also to be established and the gazette notification in this regard was issued by the government in September, the CEO said.
Smart Sri Lanka has been conceptualized as the version 2.0 of the e-Development Agenda of Sri Lankan government.
The entire public sector will be networked under the Smart Sri Lanka programme.
The aim is to provide a launch pad for Sri Lanka to become a knowledge-based economy and information society, and finally a knowledge hub.
Version 1.0 of e-Development Agenda was e-Sri Lanka which was scheduled to close in December 2013.
The Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved the launch of Phase 2 of its e-Sri Lanka Development Initiative, subject to stipulations laid down by the General Treasury.
