Fri, Feb 28, 2014, 07:35 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 28, Colombo: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has ordered to deploy two police teams to investigate the shooting at the vehicle of Sri Lankan President's personal physician Eliyantha White early this morning.

The police teams led by Western South DIG Sumith Edirisinghe have already found several vital clues about the shooting, local radio Hiru FM reported. Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said Dr. White's vehicle was shot at around 4.30 a.m. outside his residence on Edirisinghe Road in Mirihana.

The police told the media that two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle had opened fire at Dr. White's vehicle and fled.

Dr. White had not been inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting and his driver had escaped unhurt, the police said.

Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
