Feb 27, Colombo: The Chief Prelate of Sri Lanka's Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Siddhartha Thero has said that the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has fulfilled its role as the opposition in the country.
The Thero has made this comment when JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and former Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe visited the Chief Prelate to present them with the party's policy framework, Our Vision.
The JVP presented the policy framework to Mahanayakas of Malwatte and Ramagngna Chapters on Tuesday.
Ven. Siddhartha Thero has said that the JVP is the political party that fulfills the real role of the opposition despite there is an opposition in the country.
Meanwhile, party leader Dissanayake has said the supremacy of the law and good governance have deteriorated in the country and there is a need to develop the human resource of country.
"We have prepared a good programme to develop the human resource. 'Our Vision' has been created to establish independence of the judiciary and good governance," he said.
