Feb 24, Colombo: The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) of Sri Lanka plans to re-launch the Internet Crime Investigation Unit (ICIU).

The NCPA has said the ICIU will be re-launched in order to monitor the activities of pedophiles.

The ICIU was first launched five years ago with the aid from the World Labor Organization, but it had become defunct a few years later.

NCPA Chairperson, Anoma Dissanayake told the media that the Authority decided to re-launch the unit in order to monitor the activities of pedophiles.

She added that the Unit will also focus special attention on foreigners who solicit underage children through the internet.
