Feb 21, Colombo: President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai will arrive in Sri Lanka on Sunday (February 23) for a three-day official visit, the government media announced.
Karzai visit is aimed at further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries as both countries are members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
The visiting Afghan leader will hold talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart President Mahinda Rajapaksa and other top officials of the government.
During his visit, an Afghan embassy will be declared open in Colombo on Monday to mark the Afghan leader's visit, the Ministry of External Affairs said. Currently Ambassador of Afghanistan to India serves as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
The Afghanistan leader will also pay floral tributes to the War Heroes' Monument at Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte on the same day, according to the Ministry.
