* Sri Lanka takes measures to remove unauthorized election offices in the run up to PC polls

Feb 16, Colombo: Election authorities have announced that all unauthorized election offices in the Western and Southern Provinces will be removed before the polls.

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya told the media that all unauthorized election offices will be removed in the two provinces from Thursday (20).

He added that the officials of the Elections Department will commence checking for unauthorized election offices from tomorrow (17).

Meanwhile, Highways, Ports and Aviation Project Minister Nirmala Kothalawala has appealed from all political parties to refrain from painting election symbols and numbers on the roads and highways in the Western and Southern Provinces.

Provincial Council elections to the two provinces will be held on March 29th.
