* Sri Lanka police raid 5 illegal gambling centers, arrest 94

Feb 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have raided a network of gambling operations in the Sri Lankan capital Saturday night and arrested 94 persons, local media reported.

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) of the police has raided five illegal gambling spots in Olcott Mawatha and Malwatte Road in Pettah, the commercial district of Colombo.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told local media that 94 people have been arrested following the raids. Among the suspects are owners and managers of the gambling centers, the spokesman told media.

According to the Police Spokesperson legal action will be taken against the arrested suspects. The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations.
