* Pakistani PM felicitates Sri Lankan President, PM on Independence Day

Feb 04, Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has felicitated President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne on the occasion of Sri Lanka's Independence Day being celebrated on February 4 (Tuesday).

"It is with immense pleasure that I convey to your excellencies my sincere felicitations on the auspicious National Day of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka." Prime Minister Sharif has said in his message of greetings.

The Pakistani PM has expressed confidence that the close and friendly relations existing between the two countries would continue to grow in the coming days, as both the countries were jointly striving to strengthen economic and commercial ties, the official APP news agency reported.

The Prime Minister also has expressed his desire to further strengthen the ongoing cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.

"I also take this opportunity to pray for your excellencies' personal health and wellbeing and progress and prosperity of your country," he has added.
