* Nepal Army Chief visits Sri Lanka's Northern Province

Feb 02, Colombo: Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, General Gaurav SJB Rana, who is on a six-day visit to Sir Lanka at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake visited Jaffna in the Northern Province on Sunday.

During his tour to Jaffna, the Nepalese Army Chief met the Jaffna Security Force Commander Major General Udaya Perera before he visited Nallur Hindu Temple and several other places.

Major General Perera enlightened the visiting commander on Sri Lanka Army's post-conflict reconstruction, reconciliation and other roles in different spheres of development that is still underway in the peninsula.

The Nepalese delegation visited the sacred Nallur Hindu Temple and took part in a special Pooja. They also visited a few other places of social and cultural interest in the peninsula before returning to Colombo.

General Rana is scheduled to participate in Sri Lanka's 66th Independence Day celebrations on February 4 in Kegalle as the Chief Guest.

During his six-day visit, General Rana is expected to meet Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and other military commanders.

The Nepalese Army Chief accompanied by his wife arrived in Colombo Saturday (February 01). Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake welcomed the General Rana and his delegation at the airport.
