* Sri Lankan parliament to resume live telecast of proceedings
Sun, Apr 27, 2014, 06:40 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 27, Colombo: Speaker of Sri Lanka Chamal Rajapaksa says that the live telecast of parliamentary proceedings will recommence from next month.

The Speaker informed the House that the live telecast, which was suspended after a month of test transmission, would recommence from next month and the first hour of parliamentary proceedings will be telecast live.

However, he said that he would ensure that legislators strictly adhere to Standing Orders of Parliament during debates in the House.

"I will ensure Standing Orders are adhered to the letter. Then everything will be alright," the Speaker said.

The Speaker has made the announcement of the live telecast when United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka has questioned about the matter.
