* Japan offers higher education scholarships to Sri Lankan students

Apr 24, Colombo: The Government of Japan will award scholarships to Sri Lankan students to pursue studies in Japanese Universities and Colleges for 2015 under the Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship scheme.

Under this scheme students may apply for College of Technology, Undergraduate or Post Graduate Research scholarships.

Selection of candidates will be done through an examination conducted jointly by the Japanese Embassy and the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Japanese Embassy in Colombo said the student selection for the Monbukagakusho scholarship is channeled through the Ministry of Higher Education and the closing date for application is 23rd May 2014.

Prospective candidates are requested to forward their applications to the Ministry of Higher Education, No. 18, Ward Place, Colombo 07.

Application forms can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Higher Education. Application forms downloaded from the website of the Government of Japan will not be accepted for the preliminary processing.

Applicants who have only passed G.C.E. A Level should apply for ONE SCHEME ONLY (Either Undergraduate or College of Technology).
