* Sri Lanka national coach resigns to take up appointment with ECB
Tue, Apr 22, 2014, 05:21 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 22, Colombo: National coach of Sri Lanka Cricket Team Paul Farbrace has tendered his resignation today, the cricket authority announced.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said Farbrace tendered his resignation and has indicated to SLC of his unavailability to continue with SLC with immediate effect in order to take up an appointment with the England Cricket Board (ECB).

SLC expressed surprise when ECB approached the board to recruit Farbrace since he had signed a contract with SLC for a two year term ending in December 2015 and especially, since the Sri Lanka national team is scheduled to tour England within the next few weeks.

Farbrace, who accepted the coaching position with the SLC in January this year, was approached by the ECB to recruit him as the assistant coach of the England's national team.

During his tenure the Sri Lankan team won the Asia Cup and the ICC World T20 Championship.
