* Tamil MP says peace and harmony in Sri Lanka yet a distant dream
Wed, Apr 16, 2014, 09:58 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 16, Colombo: Parliamentarian of Sri Lanka's Tamil National Alliance (TNA) P. Ariyanethran has said that the President had made a good New Year message promoting peace and harmony.

However, he has said that peace and harmony were yet a distant dream for the people in the North and East.

He has made this comment at a ceremony held at Ampilanthurai in Batticaloa to celebrate Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Ariyanethran has said the government needed to commence a dialogue with the TNA through international mediation to find a lasting political solution to the national problem.

He has added that the government should now move forward to resuming talks with the TNA to create peace and harmony instead of only delivering messages of peace to mark festive occasions.
