* Members of JTA causing problems to traders doing business in Jaffna - UNP organizer
Wed, Apr 9, 2014, 10:52 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 09, Jaffna: Jaffna District Organizer of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) T. Thuwarakeswaran has said that some members of the Jaffna Traders' Association (JTA) were causing problems to traders doing business in Jaffna.

He has reportedly said that the three persons from the JTA who were causing problems to the traders shared close links with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

Thuwarakeswaran has been quoted in the local media as saying that the President, Treasurer and Secretary of the JTA are creating disharmony among the people in the country.

He has said that over 300 traders in the Jaffna District have signed a petition against these officials in the JTA and charged that they were acting in such a manner due to their links with the TNA.

The UNP organizer has also alleged that it was the TNA that created a situation which led to the Army further strengthening its presence in the Northern peninsula. Thuwarakeswaran is the brother of slain UNP MP T. Maheshwaran.
