* Sri Lanka's main opposition commences re-organizing before next provincial elections

Apr 05, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has commenced re-organizing work of the party mechanism in the Uva Province.

Elections to the Uva Province are expected to take place this year since the term of the current council is due to expire this September.

The party's Leadership Council has decided to commence the preparatory work from now on in order to gather the party's strength before the elections.

The Leadership Council will also look at appointing organizers to electorates in the province that are in need of new appointments.

According to UNP sources, the party is hopeful of putting on a strong show at the Uva Provincial Council polls.
