Sept 29, Colombo: A Sri Lankan junior minister has vowed to walk naked to challenge allegations leveled against him over illegally acquiring land in his electorate.
Deputy Minister of Power & Energy Premalal Jayasekara has vowed to walk naked in the Ratnapura town if anyone could prove the charge that he obtained any land belonging to estate companies illegally, local English newspaper Daily Mirror reported.
Responding to media reports, the Deputy Minister has challenged the allegation that he has illegally grabbed three acres of land from an estate in Nivithigala in Ratnapura district.
Local media has reported that the Special Task Force (STF) had been deployed to retrieve the lands alleged to have grabbed by Jayasekera.
Media reports also said that at a meeting held at the Nivithigala Divisional Secretariat on the encroachment of estate lands, the junior Minister has reportedly cursed those making false allegations against him.
