Sept 28, Colombo: An organization in Sri Lanka has called on health authorities to implement, without delay, the national drug policy prepared by Prof. Senaka Bibile.
The Prof. Senaka Bibile Memorial Organization has said the drug policy should be implemented without letting more people to lose their lives.
National Organizer of the organization, Dr. Jayantha Bandara said that Prof. Bibile's drug policy could be accepted by the entire world since the foundation of the policy has been taken from over 100 countries.
He explained that the country is faced with a severe problem where pharmaceuticals and medicines are concerned.
According to Dr. Bandara, the organization planned the protest movement to demand the government to immediately adopt the Prof. Senaka Bibile Drug Policy and allocate 5 percent of GDP for the country's health services.
A protest march will be held from the Lipton Circus at 3:00 p.m. on September 30th to the Fort Railway Station where a petition, calling on the health authorities to implement the drug policy, is to be signed.
