Sept 26, Colombo: A parliamentarian of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) says the party leadership has sought ideas of party legislators on the changes that need to be made within the party.
UNP Badulla district parliamentarian Harin Fernando said that the party leader and seniors have requested members of the Working Committee to put forward ideas on the changes that need to be made to strengthen the party.
He has observed that the proposals were likely to be discussed at the party's next Working Committee meeting scheduled to be held on October 7th.
According to Fernando, certain groups with vested interests are trying to prevent the party's progress.
"Changing the party leadership would not solve the current issue if the true problems are not discussed and addressed immediately," he has said.
