Sept 21, London: British police arrested two men on suspicion of endangering an aircraft after a SriLankan Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the Stansted Airport in England Friday evening.
According to British officials, Airbus A330 of Sri Lanka's national carrier with 267 passengers and crew was diverted to Stansted Airport while en route to Heathrow Airport in London and forced to make an emergency landing.
The airplane has landed safely and the passengers have been evacuated and taken to a reception center, an airport spokesman has said.
Police officers have boarded the plane and arrested two men of suspicion of endangering an aircraft.
"The passengers have been removed safely. Enquiries are ongoing," the airport spokesman has told AFP.
The identity or the nationality of the two men has not been released.
