Sept 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister Dullas Alahapperuma today hinted that three more Provincial Councils would have elections soon.
Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo to thank all who helped the election campaign of the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), the Minister said that the Western, Southern and Uva Provincial Council elections would be dissolved after the elections for the Northern, Northwestern and Central Provincial Councils.
Minister's stamen is viewed as official confirmation of the rumors regarding the elections of these Provincial Councils.
The Minister also thanked the Election Commissioner, the officials of the Elections Department and the police for the services they rendered to make the election a successful democratic endeavor.
The Minister criticized the statements of certain countries at the UNHRC and said that the government's effort was to sow democracy in a land where landmines were sown.
