Sept 17, Puttalam: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today asked the students to learn the country's history along with modern technology.
Addressing a function to open the Mahindodaya Laboratory constructed at the Wilpotha Anura Maha Vidyalaya in Puttalam under the thousand secondary school programme, the President said it is not worth to learn the world history by forgetting the history of the birth country.
The three storied building constructed at a cost of Rs. 65 million consists of a computer lab, language, and, mathematic laboratories and a library.
Stressing that priority should be given to education as it is the tool that protects life, President Rajapaksa said that education will be most beneficial to a country if it is pursued properly.
He said the Children must be equipped with responsibilities and virtues to live as a person who respect the country and the society.
"We are a nation that taught the world about love and kindness. Sri Lankans have never usurped belongings of others," the President told the students. He asked the students to love the country and work with pride.
Senior Minister A. H.M. Fowzie, Minister Priyankara Jayaratne and Governor of North Western Province Tissa Balalla also participated in the occasion.
