Sept 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Health Ministry has requested the Criminal Investigation Department of police to probe an incident of stealing a stock of surgical gloves from the National Cancer Institute of Maharagama.
The stock of stolen gloves has been found at a funeral parlor and 3 minor workers attached to the cancer hospital have been arrested in connection with the theft, local radio Hiru FM reported.
The police arrested the owner of the funeral parlor Sunday in connection with the theft and questioning the suspect has led to the arrest of the three minor workers.
The Health Ministry reportedly suspects a second group operating behind the racket and has asked the CID to probe the incident.
Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena had instructed the officials to hand over the investigations to the CID.
