Sept 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka police have arrested 125 people for election law violations the office of the Police Media Spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the police have received 142 election related complaints across the country, the police said.
Most of the complaints were reported from the Central Province. There were 61 complaints from Central Province, 48 from the Northern Province and 33 complaints from the North Western Province.
The Police Spokesman's office said that arrangements have been made to deploy more police officers to areas from where the complaints were made.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Elections Department said over 5,000 local and international polls monitors will be deployed to observe the Provincial Council election to be held in the three provinces on September 21.
