Sept 14, Colombo: Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Selecting Committee Sanath Jayasuriya has protested that the Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards ceremony which was held last week insulted him.
Writing a letter to the SLC, Jayasuriya demanded to probe the organizers of the awards ceremony for insulting him saying that an entertainment feature which was presented in between the programme was targeted to insult him.
The satiric programme named 'Puswedilla' has made fun of an English language error committed by the former Test captain at a commentary.
SLC sources said that Jayasuriya has threatened to resign from the post of chairman of the selecting committee unless the incident is probed.
World's top Test wicket-taker in 2013 Rangana Herath won the top prize at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards ceremony as the Cricketer of the Year while Sri Lanka's legendary batsman Kumar Sangakkara won the People's Player of the Year 2013.
