Sept 11, Colombo: Family members of Sri Lanka Police personnel who were killed during the period of the war today held a protest demanding relief and assistance.
Over 200 families of policemen who were killed during the war in the conflict areas protested outside the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo over the non-receipt of dues.
The protest resulted in the closure of the road leading to the Presidential Secretariat.
The protesting families demanded that they too be provided with the benefits offered to families of service personnel of the three armed forces killed during the conflict.
According to the protesters, there have been over 2,000 police personnel who have been killed during the period of the conflict.
