Sept 09, Colombo: The High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka celebrated the Defence Day of Pakistan on 6 September 2013 at Hotel Galadari in Colombo.
A large gathering including Sri Lankan Government Ministers, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, Inspector General of Police, High Commissioners/Ambassadors, senior officers of three segments of Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, Government officials, and Pakistani community.

The Defence Advisor of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt gave out the welcome address followed by National Anthem of both friendly and time tested countries. The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major General (Retired) Qasim Qureshi read out the Message of the President of Pakistan.
Later, the Chief of Defence Staff along with Commanders of Sri Lanka Army, Navy, the High Commissioner and Defence Advisor Pakistan cut the cake on the occasion. The invitees were treated with Pakistani songs by Lieutenant Colonel Fernando of Sri Lanka Army and his team.
Defence Day is celebrated in Pakistan as a national day on 6 September in memory of those who killed in the Indo-Pakistani war of 1965 and successful defence of Lahore, Sialkot and other important areas of the country.
