Sept 07, Batticaloa: The International Conference of the Eastern University in Sri Lanka, named as "ICE-2013" will be held from 12th to 13th of September, 2013 at the Eastern University in Batticaloa, under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor of EUSL, Dr. K. Gobindarajah.
The second International Conference of the Eastern University will be held under the theme "Knowledge and Technology for Post-war Recovery".
The inaugural session will be held on the first day of the conference at 9:00 am at the Nallaiah Auditorium, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. Prof. Syed Jamil Ahmed, Professor at the Department of Theatre, University of Dhaka has been invited as the key note speaker of the conference. Also, Dr. Rahul Mukherji- Associate Professor, South Asian studies, National University of Singapore and Dr. Alistair J Murdoch- Associate Professor of Crop and weed science have been invited as the guest speakers of this conference.
Further, the Chairman, University Grants Commission, Prof. Kshanika Hiruburegama and the Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education will be participating as the special Guests at this occasion.
A total of 61 research papers, reviewed by national and international experts in the respective field of studies, will be presented as oral and poster presentation at the conference.
The key areas of these research publications will be Post-Conflict Reconciliation, Science and Technology in Development, Food Production and Climate Change nexus, Health Care, Peace Medicine and Human Well-being, Culture, Literature and Performing Arts, Poverty and Livelihood, Water Resources, Information and Communication in a Globalization Age, Business and Management for Economic Growth, Politics and Good Governance in Pluralistic Society, Education in a Knowledge Economy and Renewable Energy Resources.
Having such conference will be a path to bringing up our university to the top international ranking, said Chandrakantha Mahendranathan, Senior Lecturer and member of the organizing committee of ICE-2013.
