Sept 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Vice President K. Mathivanan resigned from the post today, the cricket board announced today.
In a media release Sri Lanka Cricket announced that Mathivanan has tendered his resignation to the President of SLC, Jayantha Dharmadasa, citing personal reasons.
However, according to local media reports, Mathivanan has been absent at the SLC executive committee meetings for over two months and he has also avoided engaging in the activities of the SLC during the period.
Mathivanan told local media that he had decided to resign since he was not allowed by authorities to contest for the chair of the Colts Cricket Club. However, he refrained from naming the authorities.
Local media earlier reported that the reason behind Mathivanan's possible departure is the disputes he was having with the Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.
Mathivanan retained his seat as one of the vice-presidents by polling the highest with 113 votes at the SLC's 55th election in April this year being the second in the SLC history to gain over 100 votes.
