Sept 05, Colombo: Ally of Sri Lanka's governing party, the National Freedom Front (NFF) has accused another party in the governing coalition, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress of helping the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay to prepare a negative report on the country.
Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, NFF Spokesperson Mohammed Muzammil objected to the move by the SLMC to present suggestions to Pillay and said the SLMC's move would help Pillay prepare a false report on Sri Lanka.
Muzammil noted that Pillay would use the SLMC suggestions to compile a negative report on the country after her visit.
According to Muzammil, Pillay had made a visit to the country to entangle Sri Lanka in an international web and not to address issues of minorities.
He also questioned Pillay's impartiality saying it was questionable and that she would not accept an independent investigation carried out by the Army.
Muzammil also noted that the separatist statements made by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the major Tamil party in the country, have noticeably increased following Pillay's visit.
