Sept 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Justice has taken steps to establish a new language translation unit in the Court of Appeal.
The Minister of Justice Rauf Hakeem and the Chief Justice Mohan Peiris Tuesday (03) declared open the unit.
The Ministry of Justice says that the unit was established to assist the Court of Appeal to resolve a number of cases which have been delayed due to the need of translations from Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.
A large number of suspects have been affected due to the delay in hearing the cases.
The Ministry of Justice says that the United Nations Development Fund has funded the project.
