Oct 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka's major Tamil party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says the party will boycott the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo next month, but would meet the foreign dignitaries who will be visiting the country during the period.
TNA parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has said the party will meet with foreign dignitaries to discuss the situation in Sri Lanka.
The Chief Minister of Northern Province has however told a local radio station that he would take a decision with regard to the participation in the CHOGM if an invitation is extended to the TNA.
Sumanthiran explained that several dignitaries who will participate in the summit have already shown interest in looking at the post war developments in the country and visiting the Northern Province.
It has been reported that the TNA will meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron during his visit to the North.
TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran has said that the party is looking at handing a report to the British Premier on the human rights situation in the North and East Provinces.
