Oct 31, Colombo: The state-of-the-art media center, being established to facilitate the coverage of next month's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo will cater to the needs of over 1,000 media personnel, the Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
The Media Center, located at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, the main venue for the CHOGM, will be the central location for all media during the summit.
Minister Rambukwella, who inspected the center on Wednesday, said it will provide all facilities to foreign media personnel to cover the summit by way of live telecasts and broadcasts all over the world.
The center, set up under the supervision of the CHOGM Media and Propaganda Sub Committee and Mass Media and Information Ministry, will be fully-equipped with live broadcasting facilities, briefing rooms, work stations, communications facilities and Internet access, among other services.
The media center is open to media personnel who possess the special identity card issued for the CHOGM coverage, from November 11 to November 17. It will be open 24-hours a day during the executive sessions of CHOGM.
